Event Invitations

Invitations are the first impressions that your guests will have of the event.  They must create a strong, positive first impression in informing the guest on what they can look forward to. For formal or informal events, the invitations should entail and answer the who, why, what, when and where to fully inform the guest.

At first glance, it may seem as if invitations, entertainment, decorations and parking are unrelated. Not so. As you work through planning your event, you will realize that it is crucial to have parking details worked out so the correct information is included in your invitation. Your theme, entertainment and décor will help you determine the design of your invitation.

These steps may help you through the process:

  • Prepare draft invitation (flier, letter, formal invitation, postcard, etc.)
  • Discuss draft with appropriate staff and administrators
  • Determine RSVP deadline
  • To make arrangements for guests with special needs, contact the Office of Disability Services
  • Arrangements for the Parking Garage
  • Arrangements for Valet Parking
  • Consider sending confirmation letters to those who have RSVP'd that include maps, parking passes, tickets, etc.
