Publicity with Banners, Fliers and Posters

Fliers and Posters

When designing a poster or flier, remember to include the name, date, time, location and cost of the event. Depending on the size and nature of the event, the following information may also be included:

  • event sponsors
  • parking information
  • recommended attire
  • ticket information
  • rain location and rain date

Posters or fliers may need to be sent to targeted organizations or locales about upcoming events.

If distributing fliers/posters to students in residence halls, work with Housing Administration at 940-565-2610, to determine the quantity needed and make arrangements for distribution, including how far in advance they will need the material to distribute.

Fliers and posters can be used on and off campus and should be designed to carry out the “theme” for your event and complement the invitations. If you need design assistance, contact Design Works  in the University Union (Suite 223) at 940-565-3829. If your design is complete and you need to arrange printing, contact Printing Services  or one of the UNT Copy Centers for smaller quantities. Arrange for printing of posters with Printing Services or one of the UNT Copy Centers.

  • All forms of pre-event publicity need to fall within the university’s guidelines as detailed in the UNT Identity Guide as to use of colors, branding (wordmarks and logos), presentation materials, etc., before and during the event.
  • Be sure to consult university policy and individual building representatives, about the posting of material in UNT buildings.

Design Works in the University Union can assist in designing and printing indoor or temporary (coated paper) outdoor banners up to 3’ x 10’ in size.  For more permanent vinyl banners or larger sizes, contact an outside printing firm.

Information concerning reserving space for hanging outdoor banners at the University Union can be found at Union House Guidelines. Be sure that your plan for hanging banners does not conflict with university policy. Before purchasing banners, consult the Union Banner Policy and the building representative at each intended location to obtain approval or reserve space for the location and date intended.
