What is "Special" About Events at UNT?

Special events can generate publicity, strengthen positive relationships, recognize service and achievement, provide important information, raise profiles, raise funds and help build the market position of the university. The university hosts or participates in hundreds of special events each year including:

  • VIP dinners
  • Campus visitation programs
  • Seminars
  • Symposia
  • Dedications
  • Athletic events
  • Musical performances
  • Anniversaries
  • Award presentations
  • Speeches
  • Reunions

Every event, regardless of its size and scope, impacts the image of the University of North Texas. Events are an opportunity to build UNT's reputation throughout the community; in order to do this, events must be well organized and executed, as well as imaginative and interactive. Try to appeal to the five senses: sight, smell, taste, sound and touch. The more senses that are engaged, the more captivating the event will be. Also, make sure that all visual aids are consistent and coordinated. Some examples include:

  • Posters
  • Fliers
  • Invitations
  • Printed programs
  • Signs
  • Displays
  • Social media
  • Favors
  • Podium signs
  • Backdrops

The quality of these materials also reflects on the university and the department/host. Maintaining the look from year to year for annual events will help you promote your event more effectively. The university logo should be the most prominent graphic image on any support items. Additional information is available in the Identity Guide.
